Ambassador of Canada in Latvia visits Liepaja University

During the two days visit at Liepaja, Amabssador of Canada in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia H.E. Kevin Rex visited Liepaja University and had a meeting with LiepU Rector Dace Markus, faculty deans and also gave open lecture: "Multiculturalism and its benefits: Canada's exemple".

During the meeting with LiepU authorities, Ambassador was introduced with Liepaja University study programs and recruitment of foreign students, as well as about the cooperation between Moncton University in Canada and LiepU. Taking into account Canada is bilingual country - English and French both are official languages, Canada embassy offered the cooperation in different events during the Francophonie days in Liepaja next year as well as in academic cooperation - potential guest lectures by Canadian professors.

At the beginning of the lecture "Multiculturalism and its benefits: Canada's exemple" Ambassador Kevin Rex stressed on the fact that he is diplomat and not the specialist of multiculturalism, but about Canada he can speak for hours. Students and participants of the 2nd International Week at LiepU during his lecture got to know how is to live in the 2nd bigges country where is living 37 million people with more then 200 ethnical groups, besides where each 2nd person is not born in Canada. He outlined that this situation makes the society more dynamic and smarter.
