LiepU staff visits Ateneo de Manila University in Philippines

Liepaja University with State Education Development Agency (VIAA) concluded an Erasmus+ agreement on 5th September 2018 (No 2018-1-LV01-KA107-046886) about the implementation of international Erasmus+ programme activity in Liepaja University (LiepU) – Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA107). University staff within the framework of this confirmed project can go on staff training and teaching mobilities in Philippines.

As the project is under the realization, then International Coordinator of Foreign Affairs Office of LiepU Sintija Leigute together with the project manager of LiepU Art research laboratory Maija Demitere went  for Erasmus+ staff training mobilities to Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), which is located in Quezon, Philippines, to introduce  ADMU staff and its authorities with Erasmus+ project’s requirements and planned project activities. Project’s coordinator Sintija Leigute, who had an initiative about this cooperation admits that “LiepU must obtain the experience in art research from the best examples and this university is the one in which we can improve our experience”.

Sintija Leigute will be meeting with International Office department of ADMU and the Faculty of Fine Arts to discuss  the planned steps of this cooperation, which lecturer and student will be sent on exchange programme to give lectures and study in this academic year in Liepaja University, as well as other cooperation opportunities in the future. Whereas Maija Demitere will introduce ADMU with particularities and topicalities of LiepU study programme “New Media Art”, possible  further cooperation projects in research, as well as will carry out her own Phd thesis on the slow art in the context of sustainability. During the visit is planned to participate in the lectures of “New Media Art” and to meet ADMU students to introduce with this cooperation under Erasmus+ programme. There will be also meetings, discussions with other ADMU faculties to mark the ways of other cooperation fields in the internationalization of higher education.

As ADMU is one of the largest research universities in Philippines and LiepU is the largest university and important research center in Kurzeme region, then the mentioned cooperation will allow to carry out common Erasmus+ partnership projects in the future, to see the facultys’ possiblities for the cooperation in the research in other study fields, to share experience about good practices in “New Media Art”.

LiepU staff will be in Ateneo de Manila University until 3th April. Whereas from 1st April LiepU British lecturer Christopher Hales will visit ADMU and give lectures in “New Media Art”.
