Liepaja University researchers create the cooperation in Estonia

Researchers from the Faculty of Science and Engineering: Karina Bāliņa, Uldis Žaimis and Sintija Ozoliņa spent three days in December at the company "EstAgar" in Estonia where they met with the company's management and technical staff.

The company “EstAgar” is processing seaweed and dealing with the development and deployment of new technologies in production. Sintija Ozoliņa says: "The technological process of recycling seaweed was learned and opportunities for submitting a joint international research project were identified. Urmass Pau, the company's chief executive, highly appreciated the achievements of researchers at Liepaja University in marine algae exploration and provided the company's production for the development and research purposes of derived products: samples of agar flakes and agar powder. We had the opportunity to look at a company that actually uses macroalgae in its production, the products of which are procured by the producers as "Laima", "Kalev" (Orkla) and various cosmetics companies (D'Difference, Berrichi, Mukk) there were even a few samples of the beauty cosmetic products, where the products made in the company are an ingredients”.

Activities were realized in the frame of Erasmus+ staff mobility.
