ITU and WHO developed learning materials have been included in the curriculum of LiepU master level students

For the first time in Europe, learning materials developed by the International Telecommucation Union (ITU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have been included in the curriculum of a public university.

Second year master level students of the IT programme at Liepāja University were tthe first ones to familiarise themselves with the new subject.

The course is based on Digital Health: Planning National Systems that emerged from ITU/WHO Digital Health Leasdership course with support from TechChange, which is funded by Digital Square, a PATH-led initiative funded and designed by the United States Agency for International Development, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a consortium of other contributors.

Based on positive feedback from students, a decision has been made to explore the opportunity to scale up the success and plan a collaboration with Polytechnic Institute of Beja in Portugal to introduce the course to a blended auditorium comprising of both nursing and IT students.
