LiepU professor gives lectures in UNIJUI in Brazil

From 10 to 20 October Linda Gaile, Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities visited the University of Ijui (UNIJUI) in Brazil as part of Erasmus+ teaching mobility to lecture on translating scientific texts, as well as to teach German as a foreign language and meet with the authorities of UNIJUI.

Linda Gaile also met with the Mayor of the city of Ijui during the visit, giving a gift prepared by the representatives of Liepaja City Council, accentuating the twinning between the two cities. An integral part of Erasmus+ mobility was meetings with representatives of the Latvian cultural centre in Ijui city, because the Latvian spirit is still maintained in this small city by singing in Latvian and dancing folk dancing.

Linda Gaile about her Erasms+ teaching mobility in Brazil says: "My visit was very well organised. Professors I met were interested, willing to talk and called for a cooperation. We agreed to meet two more times, but remotely. Students were actively involved in my lectures, also after classes came and thanked me for this opportunity".

Liepaja University and UNIJUI is already actively collaborating from the last academic year - in October 2022 Professor Dace Markus and Chief specialist of International relations Ērika Lauberga-Sleže visited UNIJUI to work together on a new Erasms+ Mobility Project in 2023/2024. The submitted project was approved – this teaching mobility is the first realised mobility, while two exchange students from Brazil and one lecturer will come the Spring semester of 2024.

Erasmus+ teaching mobility has been implemented with financial support from Erasmus+ project 2023-1-LV01-KA171-HED-000143405.
