Liepaja University has been always assuring to its international students different possibilities to dicover the culture of Latvia. This time on 16th November in a cooperation with LiepU Student Council Latvian culture evening for local and international students was held.
Evening started with two presentations, one about Latvian celebrations and second about Latvian food. A local catering company had prepared these Latvian foods from the presentation and students were invited to try them out. After tasting, the favorites were carrot cake, rye bread dessert, bacon patties and salted fish.
When students finished eating they were engaged to dance together with local folk group “Ķocis''. Folk group also played live music and sang songs in Latvian language.
For almost two hours everybody was dancing and having great laughter about unusual moves. In the process students were able to get to know each other better by being dance partners and sweat a little bit as dance moves became faster and faster.
It seems that at the end of the event students were happy about the opportunity to enjoy Latvian traditional culture in such a delicious, fun and active way. So now everybody is looking forward to the next gatherings that will take place in the following weeks.
