LiepU representatives give lectures in UNIJUI in Brazil

From 5-16 October Liepaja University Rector Dace Markus and Chief Specialist at International relations department Ērika Lauberga in the frame of Erasmus+ mobility visited UNIJUI in Brazil in order to give lectures, exchange experiences and work together to a new Erasmus mobility project for 2023/2024 academic year.

Professor Dace Markus gave lectures to UNIJUI master and phd level lingvistics and pedagogy students (online and physical) - “Sound imitations (onomatopoetics) in children speech". Two phd students agreed to collect the data for the joint publication with LiepU Professor Dace Markus.

During the visit, meetings with UNIJUI Rector Cátia Maria Nehring, IT, Business management directions' coordinators were organized. In the university business incubator "CRIATEC" several student enterprises were represented. At the end of the visit, meeting at the 36th Education Coordination Body and Municipal Secretary for Education was organized.

Ērika Lauberga says: “The added value of this visit definitely was the possibility to meet the representatives of the Latvian Culture Center in Ijui city. In this relatively small city there are folk dance groups and people are singing in Latvian. We would be happy to give the opportunity to LiepU researchers to go to this city and to do the research about Latvian immigrants who went there 130 years ago".

To Ijui city in Brazil LiepU folk dance groups "Banga" and "Bandzenieki" went to give dance concerts during the city festival "Expo Fest Ijui". The Head of the dance groups Kristīne Kārkliņa helped to prepare the dance programme to the local dance group "Staburags".
