Liepaja University (reg. No. 3093000219) (hereinafter – "LiepU") announces an open international competition for the position of RECTOR of LiepU (for a fixed term of 5 years from the date of election to the position)

The Rector is the highest official of LiepU, who exercises general administrative management of LiepU and represents the University without any special authorisation, is responsible for the achievement of the goals set in the LiepU development strategy, efficient and legal use of financial resources of LiepU, as well as performs other duties in accordance with the legislation, LiepU Constitution, decisions of the Council and the Senate.
Requirements for candidates are determined in accordance with the Liepaja University Regulations "Liepaja University Rector Election Regulations" (approved at the Liepaja University Council meeting on 23 December 2022, prot. No. 25

- PhD;
- experience and scientific achievements;
- experience and achievements in higher education or innovation;
- work experience in leading position;
- work experience in international environment;
- impeccable reputation;
- a minimum of C Level 1 in Latvian and a minimum of C Level 1 in English
- strategic thinking;
- communication, reasoning, leadership and financial management skills and experience.
The Rector's competences are defined:

Monthly salary before tax: EUR 5,000.00
The selection procedure will be carried out in two rounds according to the Liepaja University Regulations, but the final decision will be made by a vote at the Constitutional Assembly of the University.
Application deadline until 23 February 2023, by submitting and sending to LiepU e-mail address personaldala@liepu.lv the following documents signed with a secure electronic signature:

- a motivation letter, including information on compliance with the criteria set out in Paragraph 8 of the Regulations, including a certificate of impeccable reputation, as well as a vision of the strategic development of LiepU in the form of a thesis;
- evidence of your education, academic and scientific qualifications;
- curriculum vitae (CV), including a list of scientific publications or other evidence of activities in the field of science and higher education or innovation.
After the application deadline, the LiepU Rector's Selection and Evaluation Committee will evaluate the eligibility of the applicants and the submitted documents and will promote up to 5 applicants with the highest average scores to the 2nd round of the competition. Within two weeks, the candidates nominated for the 2nd round of the competition will prepare an extended vision of LiepU's strategic development and will present it to the Committee. The Commitee will summerize the results of the 1st and 2nd round and will promote 1 or several candidates to review in LiepU Council. At the end of the competition, LiepU Council will organise a meeting of one or more of the highest ranked candidates with LiepU staff and will nominate the candidates for election to the LiepU Constitutional Assembly (3rd round).
