Ukrainian citizens who have fled from the war in Ukraine and have completed their secondary education in Ukraine or Latvia or holding a bachelor degree are invited to apply for studies at Liepaja University for Autumn 2022 semester!
Please note - so that the person could qualify for a state budget financed study place, the person has to obtain a status of Ukrainian civilian in Latvia before application for studies (according to the Law on Assistance to Ukrainian Civilians, Section 1). Only citizens of Ukraine who have a temporary or a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Latvia or who have been granted temporary protection by a decision of the Government of the Republic of Latvia may apply for this support.
Liepaja University offers study places in the following BACHELOR level study programs:
MASTER level study programs:
- Information Technology
- Educational Sciences (2 specialization directions: “Diversity and Inclusion in Education” and “Teaching and Learning for Competence”).
Potential student applying for the BACHELOR studies:
- must submit Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate and Transcript. Education documents must be accompanied by Latvian or English translations;
- must submit Proof of English language knowledge in B2 level (IELTS minimum overall grade of 5.5 or TOEFL iBT / paper based or English language proficiency letter or pass LiepU English test);
- must participate in the admission interview (at LiepU or online);
- must submit passport copy.
The criteria for the competition for the studies in bachelor level: average mark in Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate and a mark in admission interview at Liepaja University.
Potential student applying for the Master of Information Technology:
- must submit the Bachelor degree diploma (with transcript) in Computer Sciences or Information Technologies;
- has to submit the thesis (5 to 10 pages) about a free chosen and topical research problem in the field of Computer Sciences or Information Technologies;
- must submit Proof of English language knowledge in B2 level (IELTS minimum overall grade of 5.5 or TOEFL iBT / paper based or English language proficiency letter or pass LiepU English test);
- must participate in the admission interview (at LiepU or online);
- must submit passport copy.
The criteria for the competition for the studies in master level: the mark in the submitted thesis and a mark in admission interview at Liepaja University.
Potential student applying for the Master of Educational Sciences:
- must submit the Bachelor's degree diploma or second level professional higher education in Pedagogy (acquired at least 240 ECTS);
- must submit Proof of English language knowledge in B2 level (IELTS minimum overall grade of 5.5 or TOEFL iBT / paper based or English language proficiency letter or pass LiepU English test);
- must submit the essay on current issues and problems in education in the chosen specialization (300-500 words). Essay must be sent together with educational documents!
- must participate in the admission interview during which the applicant’s communication, leadership, and foreign language skills are tested. (at LiepU or online);
- must submit passport copy.
The criteria for the competition for the studies in master level: the mark in the submitted essay and a mark in admission interview at Liepaja University.
Application for studies from 12.07.2022 is PROLONGED until 23.08.2022.
The results will be announced: 26.08.2022.
