Speaking about cooperation with authorities of Klaipeda University

On 11th April Liepaja University had a pleasure to host the rector of Klaipeda University (KU) Arturas Razbadauskas with its delegation for the meeting with LiepU rector Dace Markus, vice-rector for studies Māra Zeltiņa and other LiepU invited specialists.

During the conversation both sides agreed that both universities have a lot of things in common. Study programmes which are related to Music therapy, Tourism and Culture are offered in both universities, and here is the opportunity to find the unifying to develop these fields. Both university rectors admitted that there is a possibility to jointly participate in different projects from which both sides can benefit from the contribution. Good achievements in cooperation can be reached if both administration of the cities get involved. Integral part of the conversation was about Erasmus+ exchange of students and guest lecturers. Even now LiepU lecturers are giving classes in Klaipeda, and in the recent year LiepU has accepted three guest lecturers from KU.

LiepU rector Dace Markus summarized: "We have agreed on specific steps of cooperation in four directions - firstly, the cooperation in music therapy for research and studies, secondly, we received a special invitation from KU to take part in a research project in tourism field by cooperating also with Liepaja city, thirdly, there are planned student summer schools in common study directions, and fourthly, will be organized a scientific research work in  different types of coastal and maritime research.  KU has its own Maritime Scientific Institute with good technologies, we are also working in this research area."
