LiepU International Relations department visits Marijampole University of Applied Sciences

From 14-16 July Liepaja University - International Office had a chance, after a longer period, to visit LiepU partner university abroad - Marijampole University of Applied Sciences located in Marijampole. This visit was in the frame of Erasmus+ staff mobility.

Marijampole University of Applied Sciences is the only higher education institution in Sūduva region established in 2001. Currently the University of Applied Sciences consists of 2 faculties. The Faculty of Education Studies and Social Work has two departments – Law, Management and Communication as well as Pedagogy, Arts and Social Work. The Faculty of Business and Technology consists of Departments of Technology as well as Business and Economics. There are about 600 students here and more than 100 teachers.  The University trains specialists of various fields not only for Marijampole Municipality but also for the whole Southern region of Lithuania.

Right now LiepU has an agreement in a social work and teacher training field, but during the meeting we agreed to expand the agreement and include new areas as IT and business management.

During the visit LiepU staff had a chance to meet the Rector Ale Murauskiene, Vice-Rector for Academic and Scientific Development Ilona Mulerenkiene and several specialists working with projects, public and international relations.

"We do not want that our partnership exists only on a paper" - says Marijampole University of Applied Sciences Rector during the meeting, so we are looking forward to have an active cooperation!
