About the organization of final/state examinations and the implementation of final works at Liepaja University in emergency situation in 2019/2020 spring semester

Cabinet of Ministers 12.03.2020 Order No. 103 on the announcement of an emergency situation and 13.03.2020 Order No 14 - v of LiepU Rector provides that the process of LiepU studies and final works (bachelor's, master's, diploma and qualifications works) are being developed remotely.

As the emergency situation continues, the final/state examinations may also take place remotely. In order to ensure the successful completion of the final/state examinations, the defense of closing works and the acquisition of degrees/qualifications within the scheduled dates (see the exact dates at the end of the text), cooperation between students, supervisors of final works, study programs directors, deans and examination commissions is required.

 

 

1. Students:

1. use the e-resources of LiepU Library and of the international publishers for the development of final works (bachelor, master, diploma and qualifications). See e-resources here.

2. agree with the supervisor of the final work on the most appropriate form of remote communication for consultation; regularly consult and follow the instructions of the supervisor in accordance with the timetable for the development of the work;

3. where necessary agree with the supervisor on the clarification of the title of the final work and the adaptation of the study methods for remote work development;

4. develop and submit final work in electronic and printed form within the deadline agreed before (see the dates at the end of the text).

 

 

2. Supervisors of the final work:

1. agree with the student on the most appropriate form of remote communication and communicate with the student in accordance with the timetable for the development of work;

2. encourage students to use e-resources and other available resources in drawing up the final work, advise on their use in the development of remote final work;

3. agree, where necessary, with the student on the title of the final work, the objectives of the study and the task of work, the clarification of the research methods, taking into account the interests of students and the results of the final study;

4. submit suggestions to the study program’s director and to the dean of the faculty regarding the necessary changes to the requirements of final examinations and evaluation criteria.

 

 

3. Study program’s directors:

1. supervise the process of drawing up the final work of each student;

2. assess and, where necessary, change the titles of the final works caused by the remote work and submit a proposal to the dean;

3. develop and approve, in cooperation with the Faculty Councils (by 14 May 2020), the procedures, requirements and evaluation criteria adapted to the emergency situation, ensuring that the student achieves the intended study results of the final work.

 

4. Deans shall supervise the process and provide the necessary administrative and organizational support, ensuring the students individual work at laboratories.
