Professor from Helsinki University concludes work at LiepU project but does not say goodbye to the university

A year ago, in the frame of European Social Fund project No. 8.2.2.0/18/I/003 “The perfection of academic staff of Liepaja University in the areas of strategic specialization – speech therapy, preschool education and primary education”, Professor from Helsinki University in Finland Ekaterina Protasova started to work at Liepaja University.

While working on the project, Ekaterina Protasova, together with LiepU colleagues, has prepared joint scientific articles, several of which have already been published. Professor has also visited educational institutions in Liepaja, which implements a bilingual learning approach by obtaining valuable data for their researches. Ekaterina Protasova has also obtained useful information from the students of  LiepU Master level “General Education Teacher” program, since the majority of these students have been working as teachers. Researcher Ekaterina Protasova says about master's students: “Part of my students could already be equivalent to LiepU teachers, some – practitioners and then these – young and enthusiastic specialists who are ready to use new methods and approaches.”

Currently Professor is giving final lectures to Liepājas University Master level “General Education Teacher” students: provides theoretical knowledge of teachers' professional skills and pedagogical reflections using a video analysis method; analyzes student presentations on their pedagogical experience and provides feedback, with the group of students reflecting on what they have heard. The work of the host professor, Ekaterina Protasova, has been completed, but cooperation with LiepU colleagues will continue both in academic work and in scientific research.

This project, in general, foresees that by September 2022, at least five experienced guest professors from Finland, Italy, India, USA and Greece will give lectures and do a scientific research at Liepaja University.
