Professor Rakesh Dubey from India gives Hatha-yoga classes at LiepU

“Yoga – it is not only physical exercises” – with this idea Rajasthan Technical University Professor Rakesh Dubey on 4th September 2019 started his theoretical class about history, beginnings and philosophy of yoga. It is very important for professor to see that the students not only can repeat physical exercises but also understand the whole picture.

Professor has started to work at LiepU in the frame of the European Social Fund project No. 8.2.2.0/18/I/003 “The perfection of academic staff of Liepaja University in the areas of strategic specialization – speech therapy, preschool education and primary education” and he will be working in the sports pedagogy area. In this semester he will give lectures in the course “Hatha-yoga basics”, but in the next semester lectures in the courses “Sports Psychology” and “Orientation and Tourism”.

It is important to mention that this is not professor’s first experience to teach abroad, he has been giving lectures in the university in Greece, Czech Republic and in Ethiopia.

After first class professor shares his impressions: “First lecture was very nice, students were interested to learn new things about yoga, it was good to see that also foreign students have chosen this study course. All this motivates me to give even deeper information abut this field”.

Must add that it is one of the project objectives to attract foreign academic staff in academic work and scientific research in the areas of strategic specialization – speech therapy, preschool education and primary education in order to ensure the quality of the content in these areas and to expand of the partnership networks. This project is special also because geographically invited professors are coming from very different countries such as: India, Italy, Finland, USA and Greece.
